Privacy Policy
FishIQ, last updated 25 June 2026
FishIQ ("we", "us") is a UK fishing-intelligence app. This policy explains what we collect,
why, who we share it with, and your rights under UK GDPR. Questions:
dmccuk@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, and (if you use Google sign-in) your Google account email and basic profile.
- Profile: anything you choose to add: display name, photo, bio, favourites, skill level.
- Catches: species, weight, length, technique, bait, lure, notes and the date/time you log.
- Location: when you log a catch with location enabled, we record the GPS coordinates of that catch and use them to fetch weather/conditions. Your exact catch locations are private to you and are never shown publicly.
- Photos: catch and profile photos you choose to add.
- Conditions: weather, pressure, wind, temperature and moon data captured for each catch.
How we use it
- To run the app: store your catches, show your stats, maps and analytics.
- To auto-capture conditions and provide recommendations (the "FishIQ Score").
- To identify the species in a catch photo using AI (see below).
- To power community features for catches you choose to make public.
AI photo identification
When you add a catch photo, the image is sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to identify
the fish species. A photo is kept private until it has been confirmed as a fish. We do not use your
photos to train third-party models.
Service providers we share data with
- Supabase (EU region): database, authentication and storage backend.
- Cloudflare R2: private storage for your photos.
- OpenAI: AI species identification (photos only, at upload).
- Met.no: weather data (we send approximate coordinates to fetch conditions).
- Google: only if you use Google sign-in.
We do not sell your personal data.
What other anglers can see
Only catches you mark Public are visible to the community, and only after a photo
(if any) is AI-identified. Community and map features show venue-level and aggregated information only,
never your exact catch coordinates.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and withdraw consent at any time. To delete your
account and associated data, see Delete your account or email
dmccuk@gmail.com and we will action it. You may also complain to
the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. On deletion, your catches, photos and profile are removed.
Children
FishIQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
